Safety First

Health and Safety in the Workplace

The safety of our employees, partners and customers is our most important priority. It is one of Kandelium’s key objectives to create a safe workplace, and to promote an active health and safety culture for all Kandelium employees and contractors.

At Kandelium, we take our responsibility to create an environment worth living in for future generations very
seriously. The concept of community, well-being and social commitment plays a central role for us - and therefore
also for Kandelium. Our success as a company is demonstrated by the fact that we act according to the systemic
approach and that we operate in an intact environment and a society that has the well-being of all in mind. To ensure
this, safety is our top priority.

High Safety Standards

We maintain uncompromisingly high standards of safety at all of our sites. Occupational and process safety are a central part of our strategic planning, and are always considered first when any changes are implemented. Extensive safety reviews are a standard part of our process. We analyze any incidents that occur, pinpointing their causes and developing effective countermeasures. Our goal is simple: zero incidents that result in illness or injury.

Compliance and Risk Awareness

No safety strategy – no matter how comprehensive – can be effective if it is not observed by every employee and contractor, every day. This is why we carry out regular safety days at our sites to promote risk awareness. We also ensure all employees participate in task-related safety conversations. And we actively monitor compliance to achieve continuous progress.

Risk Minimization: The Hazardous Incident Ordinance

The Hazardous Incident Ordinance (Störfallverordnung, 12. BImSchV)  aims to avoid incidents and to minimize the effects of incidents that do occur. Needless to say, we implement all of the ordinance’s relevant security measures – and more.
